Each month, we ask our featured Changemakers – top female talent across sectors – for their perspectives on issues relevant to women today.
Last month, we tackled RISK and asked Changemakers how they perceive and approach risk, and what they’ve learned from their experiences. Here’s how they risk it!
Decide what the stakes are
“You need to decide what the stakes are for you in the moment. If you say nothing, you may be saying a certain type of behavior is OK. At SXSW, I made a quick calculation, but really I just felt that I couldn’t stay quiet, so I didn’t.” Full chat recap here.
Risks = Opportunities
“Some risks, while scary, are opportunities. In those moments, I surround myself with people who will give critical feedback so that I learn along the way.” Full chat recap here.
Starting fresh is risky but rewarding
“Starting out a new organization was rough. I didn’t have to worry about kids or a mortgage, but the whole thing was a risk. I worked seasonal jobs and spent more time volunteering than getting paid. But looking back, it was a great idea!” Full chat recap here.
Changemaker Chats bring together women working to advance positive change in their organizations and communities around the world, equipping and enabling them with the networks and know-how to be more effective in their daily lives.
